Inviting Teachers to Practice Inner Research

How Teacher’s Play Photo Album to Connect With Their Natural Best

Teachers and administrators from St. Peter’s School in Philadelphia play My Photo Album to reconnect with their natural best. My Photo Album is a unique inner research encounter from the Points of You ® approach.

First, participants imagined what they contribute to the school community when they show up at their natural best. Then, they took a group of photos to create a photo album. This album represented the story they tell themselves about how they show up to work.

Just imagine how you would consider sharing your story through photos like they did?

Every person picked the most significant photos that represented how they embody what they do at their natural best.

In addition, they invited fellow colleagues to interpret their albums to gain even more insight about the impact they have.

Again, just imagine for a moment the new insights you would gain after listening to how others interpret your photo album.

How Teachers Benefit

This was not your typical professional development day. Instead, time was devoted to each person downshifting from the stress of the job and inviting an opportunity to pause, reflect and restore. Teachers were able to:

  • affirm their distinct contributions and impact they have in service to each other and the students they serve.
  • gain self-knowledge of who they are when they operate from their natural best.
  • strengthen relationships.

Most importantly, they reduced stress!
